I can see the belt or buckle at least in one picture but not the other. Hope it shows up better on film, it needs something in the middle.
I don’t understand the floor-length cape for Supes, seems dangerous to walk in. And no “S” curl? What’s up with that?

The costume designer needs to re-invent Superman? I don’t think so…Fire the bitch and get someone to re-issue the suit as it should be! Wow there are some pretty pathetic gripes on here. The lack of red underwear has to be the worst. You’re complaining because a grown man isn’t wearing underwear on the outside of his clothes? This is the updated superman we needed for the 21st century. It hasn’t worked for 30 years because they kept trying to revive an outdated superman. This guy is huge, the longer cape makes him a more god like superman. His suit looks alien-like and updated because, spoiler alert, he is an alien from a very advanced civilization!!! This movie is 22 months away from being released, at least wait until a lengthy trailer comes out before you judge. But some people are just not happy unless they’re complaining I guess.

I concider myself a huge Superman fan and beleive it or not my favorite version was the Smallville version in whuch he never wore the suit. If the story is good and true to the character he can wear anything he wants

You’re right Ramon. Using logic and reserving judgement for the final product is way out of line. I guess not being a real fan I missed the part where it expains the important reasons for him to wear underwear on the outside of his clothes. I apologize. Rest assured, while you and the rest of the nerds are complaining about underwear and hair styles, you all will be lined up at the first midnight showing of this movie come June 2013.

I grew up with the Donner Films and will ALWAYS love them. With that said… Chis Nolan is the Exec. and Zach has made some pretty Epic movies… and some bad ones. I for one, am ready to see something new. I think trying to carry on the story or the Donner universe Superman would be the absolute WRONG thing to do. Hence, Superman Returns epic fail. I want new everything.. new story, new suit, new interpretation… new EVERYTHING. I hold my judgement until the credits roll when this movie comes out.

1) the red pants are gone in the comics too. The costume is the same as his comic costume.
2) The movie is made by WARNER BROTHERS aka the company that owns DC Comics, they arnt at risk of losing the rights.

I personally would like to see a Superman movie based on either the Death of Superman or the Kingdom Come comics, also I’m a hugh fan of Superman been since a kid and I honestly think they will never make a better Superman movie then the ones played by Christopher Reeves sure they can redo the movie and add better graphics but it won’t be the same so maybe this change will be good but we can only wait and see for me I’m excited

I’ve been a fan of Superman since I was a kid, still am, there will never be another Reeve, sadly folks like to ‘reboot’ my childhood favorites with garbage, sorry OUR childhood favorites.
The last release of a ‘new’ Superman flopped.. he was more like ‘Stalkerman’ spying on Lois for about 45 min, he almost resembled Reeves, enough to kind of pass as Superman. But he blew donkey nuts, so did the movie, so did the suit… the ‘S’ shield is supposed to be huge. His cape was pretty damn long too…with no ‘S’ on it.
It’s a far gone conclusion that until someone comes along and makes a Superman movie good enough to equal the Reeves Superman, asides from all the CGI which is getting old anymore, you can’t change the lasting memory of the films that man made, even if the last two were corny. They even changed the comic book version to look like Reeves! You really think they’d do that for either of these clowns? (although they’re seemingly using the comic reboot suit for this movie…they wont be using Cavill as a basis for the artwork)
Best of luck making anything stick these days, super hero movies are a dime a dozen and there are less loved characters being butchered no one even cares enough about to mention.
You might all agree, maybe not, but you can screw up most anyone else, just leave the two best ones to professionals (Bat’s and Supes) At least they didn’t screw up Batman like this… God help us all, I hope I’m horribly wrong and the acting/story line makes this just a bad suit. But the main problem will always be, Batman wears a mask, anyone can play the character lucky Bale is doing a good job, Superman is Chris Reeves.
