Star Spangled Soldier’s first article!
From our own Super-Soldier out in the field here is The Star Spangled Soldier‘s first article!
“Truth, Justice and the American way…it’s not enough anymore “….One of the lines you hear your little buddy (not mine by a long shot) Superman say to the national security advisor for the President.
First of all, how is it not enough anymore? But before I get into this let put in a little back history here. Superman was attending a non-violent protest that was a demonstration against the Iranian military. When seen, Iran took it as an act of war, believing that our government sent them personally when we did not. He then feels bad that his actions were taken so seriously and blah blah…yea we get it Superman, your turning EMO on us. He then decides to go to the United Nations to renounce his citizenship from the United States. Now for once when I would love to thrash out on a DC character, I honestly really can’t. Even my man Captain America once went down this road and became “Nomad“. At least Captain felt betrayed by HIS OWN government at that point. He still fought for the beliefs of America, just under a different name. But the simple fact that Superman said “Truth, Justice and the American way—it’s not enough anymore“ is just complete garbage. DC is just turning Superman into a coward now. Is it because DC believes America is fighting an unjust war in the Middle East?
How about this DC, you can just make Superman take of the red and blue, put on black and white, and you make his skin color a nice gray color so he has no affiliation with any country at all. And if that’s the case make sure you take your writings for him out of the US all together. Maybe if cap could find him he could smack some damn sense into him with the all mighty shield. But I think that’s enough ranting for one day.
As always I look forward to any good debate, please comment below!!!

Hell yeah, bro! Preach on! That’s how I feel too! Superman must’ve been taken out of context there. Also, what’s with that crap about he can see the microscopic bugs in people’s eyeballs? That seemed irrelevant to me. This is not the first time they’ve tried this kind of crap. Back in the 80′s they killed Optimus Prime in Transformers and brought him back after parents wrote in saying that the movie made their kids cry. It proves once again that the companies don’t care about their characters or any legacy they just panic when looking at the market. Here’s an idea: DON’T HIRE PEOPLE GIVING OFF BAD VIBES THEN! If you start getting smug suburban anarchists around, get a bigmouth in the mix to kick them all in the jimmy! That’s what got the late 90′s to work out like a charm giving USA an economic SURPLUS! Oh sure these jerks will go behind people’s back kissing ass to rich people saying we’ve all missed the point but then whose the drain on everyone’s economy if you only want high paying jobs and rape social security or welfare until one opens up?! We’re not the ones putting people into foreclosure. We’re not scabs. Yet that’s whom DC Comics are showing they’re appealing to by writing this kind of shit. Oh I see the nature. I even see the beauty. I’m *that* guy waiting at the DMZ for Nazis or red China butt-kissers looking to jump the line, exploiting ideas like this Superman “peacefully”, for their own socioeconomic status gain. Which is precisely why jerks try their hands at Indian giving and repeatedly get cosmically smacked the fuck DOWN!

Good job, but let the debate begin. How do equate Cap with Supes on this? Cap thought the President was leading a terrorist organization (Tricky Dick?) and took off the costume. Supes (or the dub butted writer) is just giving up his citizenship because as you so eloquently stated he appears to be going EMO. I agree that the current direction of Supes looks to be in the toilet and flushed but don’t drag Cap into it.

Well when Supe says the american way just isn’t working, then its time to drag cap into it. Yea superman was in the wrong for even being at the protest rally. If he wanted to go oh so badly he shouldn’t went as clark to semi blend in more and now bring the US into it. Everyone knows when u look at Supe you are looking at a U.S.Hero, for him to get his pantys in a bunch because another country is mad at us for him being there is re-donk-u-lips. He could’ve flown his happy ass back to Iran, had a talk with whatever extremist was running that show and told them the US had nothing to do with sending him there. Instead, he takes the easy way out which is guilt

Well done! I mostly have a problem with Supes. But after the announcement today I am …unhappy. Captain America disagreed and removed the whole persona and I still thought it sucked. But it was relevant to a small windowed story. The decision with Supes was one..to justify the movie choices that they are being killed (by me included rightly so) for and 2 a cheap blindside in a 9 page back up story buried in an anniversary issue to justify the reboot and insert globalist propaganda. Hey Star Spangled Soldier check out my column Eternal Dammnation #1 and PLEASE leave your thoughts on my thoughts..thanks!

Hi folks.
I am new, so it’s nice to join in on this.
I will say that I can, somewhat see your point, Soldier. However, Supes has always been and is supposed to be, basically a “nice guy”. In my life I have always heard people say that he is a “Bad- – -”, simply because he is so powerful. However, he was never supposed to be like that.
Superman’s point that it is not enough,( and I know you must realize this) is merely supposed to mean that it is not enough for him, someone who often has to be one of the champions for the entire planet. I didn’t read it to mean that he doesn’t believe in it any more.
Personally, I feel that this falls under one of my own pet peeves: that of completely disregarding the past of characters and sometimes the wisdom of the writers who created it in the name of keeping them “currently relevant: or some such crap. Yes I know that the almighty buck fits here, but it still stinks. In the 50′s as I recall, the writers saw Superman as having a similar problem. He was going all over the world and wasn’t a citizen of any of the countries. They had the UN pass a unanimous resolution making him a citizen of every participating country, with the caveat that he would remain apolitical. In retrospect, while it may have seemed naive, it was a terrific solution. All of the alien and immigration and citizenship issues went right out the window.
In their haste to rewrite and modernize the character, I think DC made a mistake to overlook this crucial aspect of his original history. For 50 years, Superman has been a citizen of every country that belongs to the UN, including Iran. This entire story arc just stinks. I still hold hope that maybe they will get it fixed. I do understand how Superman would feel that he has to be part of the global community more than just the US though. Marvel went down the craphole of a road involving superheroes being under the control of the US government and I virtually stopped reading their comics because of it. I really hope DC has more sense.
