Director Marc Webb Opens up About Cancelled Sinister Six Movie
August 10, 2017 By Holly Clarkson
It was sad really when the Amazing Spider-Man ended at it’s second movie.
I mean they saved Mary Jane for one of the movies that didn’t get made as well as never getting to get the Sinister Six on screen which was Sonys next project before they did their deal with Marvel. Not that I am not over the moon that Marvel now have Spider-Man in their Marvel Cinematic Universe but still it did feel unfinished.
Director of both Amazing Spider-Man and it’s sequel, Marc Webb, has recently opened up about those cancelled movies. He goes briefly into the villain and how the movies would have included Green Goblin:
“They were going to make a Sinister Six movie before we did the third one. But I wanted…Chris Cooper was going to come back and play the Goblin. We were going to freeze his head, and then he was going to be brought back to life. And then there was that character called The Gentleman. We had some notions about how to do it, but I think maybe we were thinking too far ahead when we started building in those things. But it was a fun exercise. I look back very fondly on those days.”
“Well, that was going to be the main villain. He was going to come out and lead the Sinister Six. We had talked about Vulture a little bit too, actually….”
