A Feel Good News Story Involving Prosthetics, Children and Superheroes
October 13, 2015 By Jon Somers
Having to come to terms with using prosthetic’s and the loss of limbs is perhaps one of the hardest things for an individual to face and when that individual is a child any help making that process easier is a good thing. One Bristol Based company called “Open Bionics” is trying to boost the confidence of children who have to use these limbs by creating superhero themed prosthetic’s.
By using 3D printing to keep costs low they have developed an Iron Man, Star Wars and Princess Elsa prosthetics. Their website reads that that children will no longer have to do boring physical therapy but instead can train to be superheroes. If that hasn’t warned your heart enough Disney has donated royalty free designs for the prosthetics. To this end I would like to give a big thumbs up on behalf of World Of Superheroes!!
