Have you ever wondered when, walking through Comicon events, people get their fundamentally realistic costumes? It could have been from a little bit of help from Immortal Masks.
Set within California, Immortal Masks have been creating custom made silicone masks since 2010 and helping to change the face of fan costumes around the world. Combining over 35 years’ worth of experience to spit out freakishly realistic costumes, Immortal Masks is established by Andrew and Michelle Freeman and George Frangadakis, accumulatively having worked on the likes of The Devil’s Carnival, Sushi Girl, Silent Night, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, Cabin Fever, Patient Zero, Submerged and Battle: Los Angeles.
Immortal Masks have continued to support the special effects industry in becoming an affordable outlet where everyone can become their true comic alter-ego. Not only do Immortal Masks continue to design their own custom made pieces (I entirely recommend keeping on top of their Facebook page – they not only post new designs but sample videos showing how the masks move when worn), but they guarantee a ‘total power mesh encapsulation technology’ which ensures masks should last a lifetime – so long as you look after it, of course. Wondering what ‘total power mesh encapsulation technology’ is? I did too. In a nutshell, it’s a mesh within the mask which helps to protect its silicone out layer when worn and makes it easier to wear and get on and off. Some fans had apprehension as to whether this ‘power mesh’ caused less movement in their masks compared to that of its competitors. In Immortal Mask’s own words: “Our power mesh stretches 10x its original size while preventing rips or running tears. So basically, if you can open your mouth as wide as an anaconda, then maybe it will restrict your mouth movement a little bit.” So, there you have it.
Immortal Masks have continued to astound the world with their wearable and wonderously graphic masks – they even sometimes sell matching arm sets for the full effect. What is even more awesome is the fact that these guys will happily custom paint masks at (in most cases) no additional charge. They also make completely custom made pieces. So for many, the real question may be: what mask will you choose?
