William Shatner Launches Kickstarter Project for New Book
November 29, 2014 By Holly Clarkson
William Shatner, better known as Star Trek’s Captain Kirk, launched his first Kickstarter project today – in a bid to publish a the new book, “Catch Me Up”.
The book aims to inspire the next generation (ha!) of senior citizens to use their skills to create sustainable business opportunities.
Shatner said: “I’ve been unemployed over 400 times in my life. More importantly I have had to reinvent myself 400 times to get re-hired by TV shows, movie producers, and even by Priceline.com when I was over 60 years old.”
The book features interviews between Shatner and successful people over 50 years old who redefined themselves by embracing new technology to start up successful business ventures..
“Seniors have skills and life experience that they can leverage to achieve great things. But in order to do that, they have to catch up to the technology of the day.”
Shatner choose Kickstarter so he can collaborate directly with backers on this passion project.
“I’m encouraging people to use new tools like Kickstarter to start their own business, so I thought why not create this book the same way?”
Several tiers of rewards are available for backers, from a $10 digital version of “Catch Me Up”, to a $10,000 VIP reward that includes an evening with Shatner himself.
