Convention Report: Megacon 2014
April 30, 2014 By Holly Clarkson
“It was the best of times,—”
Spring time in Florida means only one thing; MEGACON.
Although WOOSH (World of Superheroes) have covered this event for five years, this was my first time. Arriving on the 21st of March to collect my press pass, I struggled to take in the scale of it all. Even early on Friday afternoon, the fabulous Orange county Convention Center was heaving. The Atmosphere and spectacle were intoxicating.
Comic book, science fiction, manga and animation fans jostled with Zombies superheroes to reach the halls where record numbers of vendors and retailers displayed their wares.
A fantastic array of comics, toys, statues and memorabilia greeted the lucky punters as they entered the huge convention hall not to mention the celebrity guests attending from the worlds of film, television and comics. There really was something for everyone.
What amazed me most was the amount of fans and even stall holders wearing costumes; and not just fancy dress costumes but handmade, beautiful reproductions.
Look at our photo gallery and you not only see the quality and shear hotness of the costumes but the passion, enthusiasm, resourcefulness and imagination of the people in them.
Our guys had told me how well organized but laid back the whole thing was and they were right. Full credit to Christine and her team for providing such a spectacular, exciting, enjoyable and family friendly event. Can’t wait till it’s my turn again to represent World of Superheroes at the Marvelous, Magnificent Megacon.
